Sipadan is a small island in the Celebes Sea, a diving legend and one of the best diving locations in the world. Sipadan is the only volcanic island in Malaysia and was formed for thousands of years from living corals that have grown on the surface of an extinct volcano rising from the seabed from a depth of 600 m. The island is located in the Coral triangle, the global center of marine biodiversity encompassing approximately 3000 fish species and hundreds of different corals.
